More hockey goodness

Had our last Senior A game of the regular season tonight. I was really tired and started off the game pretty slow, and pretty much played a lazy game for the first period. Amusingly this worked out okay, and we were up 5-0 at the end of the first. The second period our opposition picked up their game a bit, and I decided to stop being lazy and start hitting people. Didn't lay a lot of checks but a couple, and I made them count :) Despite my efforts the score was 5-2 at the end of the second...I was still tired, and felt like going to sleep on the bench but obviously that wasn't an option.

Third period we hung on, and ended up with a 7-4 scoreline...I think. To be honest I can't remember but I'm pretty sure that was the final score. The other team had a really good player with a nasty habit of being able to get past all of our players. This got quite annoying as you'd imagine, and so I decided to go after him, lined up as he was about to get past one of our players and hit him as he got past. This was a good plan, as it kept him from scoring. It was funny, even the umpire commented to me that it was a good hit.

Sometimes I think I'm a little overzealous with my hits, but fuck it, it's a full contact sport, so why should I hold back? I always make clean hits, and very rarely make late hits (unless I really don't like someone), and even if it is a late hit, it's still within the 3 seconds. I haven't spent a single minute in the (penalty) box all year... of course up until Saturday I hadn't scored a goal or got an assist all year either. I wonder if people in Senior A think I'm a thug, it's possible, at 6'4" I'm one of the tallest players in my league, but I only weigh 85 kilos so I figure it evens out :)

Hmmm, am I rambling? Well anyway, as it turns out I got 2 assists this game, and so for the season I have one goal in super league, and two assists in Senior A. Must be the new stick :) It also turned out one of the guys from the other team broke his collar bone. I saw the guy seemed to be wincing a little when he went off but I didn't realise he never came back on. Oops, maybe he should drink more milk. So there you have it folks, two assists and I broke some guys collar bone.

Next week is the Semi Finals, against the other team from our club, should be interesting, they almost beat my team last time we played them (I wasn't there), it was a tie, and apparently they were in front and my team equalized in the last 30 seconds. Hopefully we do a little better this weekend.

Sarah: Is that sarcasm? Unfortunately I don't have any photos to go with that post :(

Corinna: Glad you like them :) I should have broken my collar bone once, but instead I just dislocated my AC joint and ruptured all the ligaments.... sometimes I think maybe it would be better if my bones weren't so strong, but then again I think I like them how they are :) Yep, 6'4, it's all good till I get on a plane and they don't give me the exit row, I hate that :)

The best part of sports is all the fighting. Without it it would be boring.
Work a little harder and I bet you could get some time in the penalty box...keep up the good work.

Oh, and btw, Thespians are those who act, like say drama club. lol

Sounds like you've been a busy little boy, Valdi. Fun concerts, terrible bedspreads, shopping, great photos. How did the other people in the audience appreciate your flash during the show, by the way? (camera flash, pervs)

Maja: I'll do my best to win, however I'm relying on the forwards to score the goals, my job is just to hit anyone that comes down our end to try score a goal really hard and make them think twice about trying it again.

Boabhan sith: I would have said the best part about sports is the fitness, but to watch I guess the fighting does appeal. I don't want time in the penalty box though, it's much more satisfying to clean someone up and not get penalised for it :) Oh and I know what thespians are, I just don't see the point of the word, it's like saying I'm a checkologist rather than a defenseman.

Brad: I wonder what it's from, is it that russel crow movie?

Cindy lou: I have been busy. I think the audience only minded the flash when it was directed at them. Unfortunately without the flash all the pics would turn out blurry as :(

Yeah, hockey is hard to watch on television, but it'd be awesome to watch live. I'd like to watch an NHL game live some day, maybe when I eventually make it to North America for a holiday.
