My best panorama so far
This is my best panorama so far I think (that I've properly stitched that is). I took this up near a town called Whickam in the North West of Western Australia this year. The stitch isn't perfect, but you can't tell :) It's made up of 6 photos and takes in an almost 180 degree view. I was able to enjoy this view for the better part of 3 weeks while on a geotech drilling program. Pity it was 40+ degrees celsius with 75%+ humidity everyday :) At least I was able to take some nice photos :)
Do you think I should have a seperate blog for photos like these?

ah.. the old question.. to photoblog or not to photoblog.
i have one.. it's not up and running as of yet. but it will be as soon as qwest gets my fucking DSL in. bastards.
this is a nice panorama. what type of equipment do you use/prefer?
oh and you're in luck..
i can read minds =)
Hmmm, yeah, I may link them to a hosted (bigger, better) version rather than the blogger shrunk linked version (does that make sense).
Thanks corinna.
Sarah, I use my work camera to take the photos. It's a 7.1megapixel sony cybershot. I think I need to get my own camera though, one that has more options and that is easier to control manually, and that I can get an underwater case for so I can take it scuba diving (not that I've been for ages). Canon have a camera that fits this description, but I may end up getting 2 cameras, one for underwater, one for surface. When I will get these I don't know.
In terms of stitching the photos, I use autopano for creating control points, hugin for the main processing and stitching, and enblend for a final stitch without the colour differences along the stitch lines :) I used to use photoshop but it's pretty shit for getting the stitches perfect. I use photoshop for a lot of fucking around with the pictures though, and cropping the final panoramas.
I am fascinated by what you do for a living. Not that I really know specifically but...wow.
I was gonna tell you what I do, but I decided I should just write a post about it instead. I will do this at some point when I have more time, maybe tonight or on the weekend :)
that is a sick picture
i have a program that automatically stitches the photos for me of course it doesnt look as good as this.
check out my archives, i have a few panorama pics throughout

Hey drew, welcome :)
The program you speak of wouldn't happen to be the software that comes with a canon camera would it?
I had a look at your blog but only saw one of the panoramas. I'm on dial up at work so it ain't loading properly, i'll try again when I get home. From the one panorama that i did see it seems the software you use does strange things with the actual blending along match lines.
This photo took me several iterations of stitches to get it right. It's hard to get a perfect match because i think i took the photos by hand rather than on a tripod.
You just like to say panorama.
yeah but in like a real slow southern accent :)
I bet you do, Valdi. I just bet you do.
i need to kick some qwest ass so i can start posting my photos.
yes you do, kick it hard :)
